6 Teens Arrested After Fights Break Out At CT High School Football Game

Six teens were arrested after fights broke out at a varsity football game in Connecticut.

It happened around 8:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Municipal Stadium Complex in Waterbury.

Waterbury Police Department officers assigned to a security detail for the contest between Derby and Wilby high schools observed several teenage spectators involved in a physical altercation.

Officers quickly intervened to separate all parties involved, resulting in the arrest of several juveniles, Waterbury Police said.

Minor injuries were reported.

After the initial incident, additional teenage spectators were observed instigating further fights and refusing officers’ commands to disperse. 

Those individuals were also placed under arrest.

The following, all residents of Waterbury, were charged in connection with the incidents:

  • 17-year-old boy: Assault, breach of peace, interfering with police, Inciting a riot.
  • 15-year-old boy: Assault, breach of peace, interfering with police, Inciting a riot.
  • 15-year-old boy : Assault, breach of peace, interfering with police.
  • 16-year-old girl: Breach of peace, interfering with police.
  • 15-year-old girl: Breach of peace 2nd Degree, interfering with police.
  • Ginnellys Vazquez, age 18: Breach of peace, interfering with police.

Derby High School won the game 41-14.
